Practices And Jewish And Interfaith Rabbi

By Angela White

There is a process that one has to go through whilst organizing a wedding of this nature. A Jewish and Interfaith Rabbi is there to be called upon to answer any questions one may have and to guide one in observing the customs and traditions that form part of this day. There is plenty to learn if one is not Jewish and it is nice to show some interest especially for a partner who is accustomed to its observances and practices.

Both partners want a day that goes off smoothly and so it is best to get started preparing long before the day arrives. One needs to know a bit about the laws pertaining to food as this gives one a better sense of what makes up part of this religion. For most Jews, this is a lifelong study but it is easily practiced when one knows the basic rules.

This problem is easily overcome by using a Kosher caterer that is certified to provide the right foods for any meal. A Rabbi will advise one on this so there is nothing to worry about and with a bit of steering in the right direction, a hearty meal can be served and appreciated by all. Although this body of knowledge is exhaustive one can overcome this by getting to know a few simple rules.

Firstly, only certain types of foods may be eaten for example animals that have a cloven hoof and chew the cud. This equates to only eating goats, sheep and cattle if one wants to prepare a meat meal. Seafood is a definite no and only fish that have scales and fins may be eaten.

This may seem like a problem but in fact it is quite simply overcome by using a kosher caterer and one that is recognised by a Jewish Court of Law. There are many foods that may not be consumed by Jews and these are alluded to in the Torah or Five books of Moses. These laws are strictly adhered to in most Jewish homes so it is important that on the day itself, these are brought into effect.

The intricacies of the day are appreciated that much more when knowledge of its laws and practices are understood. A Rabbi is the perfect person to bounce ideas off and to get the process going. One should leave oneself enough time to organize all of this.

It is a time that will be remembered for the rest of one's life. Keeping the guests happy is not such a chore as one may have thought it was. Keeping within the rules is not a problem when using a professional to guide one.

It is a special time for all including friends and family and one will want the day to go off without a hitch. As chaotic as it may seem, things do come together. There is never a better time than to start preparing now.
