Negativity In The Male Perspective On Divorce

By Stella Gay

Divorce laws are gender biased wherein the favor would belong to the woman and the man would almost always lose. Since the women are the ones that would take care of the house, the laws were made so that they can get benefits on the expense of their ex husbands. Now the reason as to why the male perspective on divorce is so negative is simply because even if the woman is at fault, the man may still lose.

One of the biggest issues that most men are fighting for today would be the custody of the children during the separation of the spouses. Now this is simply because the children are usually with the mother while the father is bringing back home the bread. So the court would assume that the mother would know more about taking care of the kids as compared to the father.

If that is not enough, men would have to deal with the children thinking that their daddies are the bad guys. This can simply be from the fact that in general, the mothers would be the ones that would spend most of the time with the children while the father is working. This in turn would make the children think that their mommies can do no wrong.

Now there is also an issue about the fact that a man may lose his assets if his wife would want to fight for them after a divorce. Now the reason that the ex wife can fight for the assets is because after marriage, she would have access to those assets. Through a proper court procedure, the ex wife may actually be able to fight for the rights to those assets.

Such an example would be the house and the car. Even if the man did pay for the house and the car, the wife may have a fighting chance of getting the house and car from the husband in court. This is simply because most laws would state that the assets of a married couple are to be split between the couple.

Now another very disadvantageous thing to men that would happen during a case like this would of course be alimony. Now alimony is paid by the husband to the ex wife as his support to her and their children after marriage. The bad part here is that even if the ex wife is already stable and has another man, the ex husband must still give her money.

Now the good thing here is that not all states or countries are extreme when it comes to the laws regarding alimony. Most states would go through the proper court procedures before the ex wife can be able to claim any support money. On the other hand, there are actually some states that would be more inclined to the favor of the woman.

Due to the gender bias in the laws, men have a generally very negative perception when it comes to divorce. It is actually because of this that a lot of men are fighting for the amendment of some laws. Though some states have more reasonable laws, other states are stricter.
