Time For Jewish And Christian Wedding Rabbi

By Helen Reed

It is seen that more and more the need for this type of person is required when one of the bridal couple is Jewish. Using a Jewish and Christian wedding Rabbi is the answer when this is the case, especially should one want this to be the flavour of the wedding itself. This is a growing requirement as congregations intermingle and where one of the couple finds their life mate.

Today people wanting this can get it done and have a chuppah to commemorate the occasion. A chuppah is the canopy that the bride and groom stand under and is held up high by four men, each at one pole. These men are usually made up by close friends and family who are given the honour on this special day.

It is much the case that the spouse to be who is not of Judaism will make inquiries with regard to becoming a convert. This is a big decision and as Judaism is not a religion that tries to take on converts, the road in doing so is hard and arduous where one has to have a calling in doing so. A Rabbi can be consulted about this and he or she will advise that it takes up to three years and more to do so.

Kosher laws are stringent and they outline what may be eaten and what may not be. Furthermore, should foodstuffs such as this be served, then a mashgiach must be in attendance to ensure that all food is properly watched over. A mashgiach is Torah observant and follows all the laws laid down in the Bible both written and oral.

Kashrut or kosher laws are stringent and one will have to consider bringing in a mashgiach to oversee the preparation of it and serving. A mashgiach is the title given to someone who does just this and must be on site on the day to make sure laws are abided by. This is another cost factor to take into account as this person will be expected to be paid for services rendered.

The Beth Din is the court of law that enforces anything having to do with Jewish practices. They oversee kashrut laws and ensure that they are with in keeping to laws laid down in the Bible. A mashgiach will ensure that these laws are abided by when serving food and these people are themselves Shomrei Shabbos and abide by all Jewish Law.

There are many other customs that can be incorporated into this special day. The unveiling of the bride is another custom that is practiced. This is when the groom checks that the bride to be is really the one he has chosen.

So there is much to see to but with a little preparation, having a Jewish celebration is not that difficult. This is especially so when it is required where guests are Jews and will want to be treated to delicacies and foods they are used to. All in all it is a special occasion and is enjoyed by all.
